Dive into the Gallows with our Dark Halloween Table Decor

When it comes to Halloween decor, we believe that there is a fine line between being creatively creepy and terrifyingly kitschy. Hence, rather than settling for another Halloween setup filled with orange and black accents, we decided to forgo the vibrant orange hues that might make our table decorations a bit tacky and opted to go for an all-black affair to set the scene for an elegant gathering. To set the ball rolling for a fang-tastic Halloween dining table decor, we have luxuriously draped our table in a plush black velvet tablecloth for a glorious dark vibe because nothing is more sumptuous than classy velvet linens if you ask us. To add a chic festive touch to our tablescape, we knew that our black table runner featuring a glitzy metallic gold foil pattern would perfectly emulate the symbolic spider web design but with a glimmering twist that’ll be perfect for our refined Halloween tablescape. So without thinking twice, we unfurled our black and gold table runner along the middle of the table which instantly brought lustrous sheen and glamour to our table. In our opinion, high doses of black and gold are the key for a more refined Halloween table decor, but in case this linen combination is too monochromatic for you, you can substitute the black runner with a burgundy and gold foil table runner which will also work just fine with the classy Halloween table settings we have in mind.

Since the table linens truly accentuated our otherwise plain table, it was only fitting that we outfitted our chairs as well to impart grandeur and panache. Although we had already swapped out our regular dining chairs with gold-colored chiavari chairs, they still didn’t look the part when compared to our tablescape. Hence, we dressed up the chairs in our black lace and tulle tutu chair covers which beautifully veiled the chair back leaving a flowy trail of sheer tulle layers behind for one surreal-looking chair decor. Moreover, in order to leave no stone unturned to set up a posh and sophisticated tablescape, we went a little above and beyond and also created a simple Halloween table backdrop. To enhance the aesthetics and add to the spooky ambiance, we have draped our shimmering black sequin curtains on a heavy-duty backdrop stand that emulated the gleaming stars twinkling in the gloomy night sky casting a spellbinding allure into our set up.

Place Settings

Next on the spooky agenda were the Halloween table settings. Since choosing dinnerware that stylishly complements the table linens was definitely a preference, we decided to go a step further and opt for tableware that doubles as table decor accessories elevating the posh table aesthetics to a whole new level of extravagance. Because we intended to play around the set black and gold color scheme, we have used our black charger plates with scalloped edges and glistening gold rims pairing them with our chic black and gold disposable plates. The bewitching appeal of these black dinner plates speckled with the edgy gold splashes beautifully matched with not only the mesmerizing gold scalloped chargers but also harmonized well with the gorgeous table runner lending a ghoulishly delightful flair to our dark Halloween table decor. However, when it came to choosing the napkins, we decided to tuck folded burgundy-colored crinkle crushed napkins under the charger plates. The deep reddish-brown hues mimicked the deep red blood dripping down the table adding another dusky yet regal shade to our Halloween color story. In order to achieve a more cohesive look, we opted for our designer baroque gold cutlery which contrasted beautifully against the black plates not to mention the ornate vintage design that added entrancing quaint charm to the place settings. To cap off our settings, we have also arranged our gold rimmed goblets for the guests to sip on the red wine that is just the perfect finishing touch to our elegant Halloween table settings.

Centerpiece

As soon as we were done laying out the dinnerware and napkins, it was now time to zero in on our Halloween table centerpiece to add that freakish oomph factor to our tablescape. Because we wanted to keep things subtle and elegant with a dash of wicked flair weaved within, using fake orange pumpkins or gory decorations were completely off the table. So we took a gamble and opted for dark and mysterious flora instead because you can never go wrong with flowers, don’t you agree? Thus, we have bunched together some faux black silk roses with faux burgundy silk rose flowers blending the two glamorous tones into one bouquet. Furthermore, to flaunt our mysterious floral bouquet on our tablescape, we have opted for our clear glass flower vase that has punctuated the lavish look with the lustrous gold metal top. You can also use dried out wildflowers from your backyard or grab a bunch of wilted roses from your nearby flower shop for a super-creepy appeal.

Additional Tabletop Decor

Although the endearingly somber floral bouquet was surely the right call to augment the beauty of our elegant Halloween tablescape, using only one centerpiece to bedeck our table just wasn’t enough. So we ended up aligning our black artificial floral candle rings and red/black artificial rose flower candle rings on our table runner. Since we were looking to conjure up a spooky ambiance, we decided to dim the room lighting which highlighted the glittering gold LED votive candles and gleaming tall gold taper candles that were held upright on our antique gold mercury glass candle holders nestled inside the flower rings as you can see in the video. When the candles were all lit up, the whole table setup screamed Halloween elegance, like we had never seen before!
